So here I am searching the internet for work in the area. After a couple of applications - one for Waterstones - I begin applying for something I really don't want to do - waste sorter for a recycling plant. I get to stage 1 of the application process and give up. I look on some more sites, including Exmoor national Park - their jobs are found on another site and you have to pay to get the job updates for those. So I give up there. Then I think, right, I'll go and get a Toffee Crisp, maybe go for a surf, and things will change when I feel a bit more motivated.
But as I'm getting the Toffee Crisp I remember to get the North Devon Journal which has loads of job adverts. I get back to my van and while munching away on the Toffee Crisp, I turn to the jobs' section. I kid you not, first advert is "Copy Writer, based in North Devon. With or without agency experience."
True, I didn't come all the way here to sit back in an office, but the office part isn't really what bugs me - it's more the drudgery. But hey, this sounds interesting.
So what is that? Fate? Destiny? Chance?
My feeling is that there are a million other times when absolutely nothing happens when you look in the jobs' section. It's only when you're greeted by something which appears miraculous that you question it and look for a reason. At the same time, I also feel that we have a trajectory that we follow to a certain extent. So when 'a copywriter' starts to look for work, 'he' is confronted with options that maybe 'he' hadn't considered when he wasn't looking. And then events start to come together that match the 'copywriter' with the 'job'. The 'copywriter' goes to places where 'copywriters' go. And copywriter jobs appear.
Feel free to ridicule, agree, or simply ignore the above.
